From the South

Take I-35W North. As you near downtown Minneapolis, take exit 16B to merge onto I-94 East toward St Paul. Take I-94 to the "Huron Boulevard" exit. Follow Huron Boulevard to Washington Avenue and turn right. Take Washington Avenue for one block and turn right onto University Avenue. Take an immediate left onto 25th Avenue SE. Turn right onto 4th Street SE. The MAST Laboratory is located on 4th Street between 25th and 27th Avenues SE.

From the North

Take I-35W South. Take exit 23A to merge onto MN-280 South. Take the "University Avenue" exit. Continue for one block and turn right onto University Avenue. Follow University Avenue for about one mile and turn right onto 27th Avenue SE. Turn left onto 4th Street SE. The MAST Laboratory is located on 4th Street between 25th and 27th Avenues SE.

From the East or West

Take I-94 to the "Huron Boulevard" exit. Follow Huron Boulevard to Washington Avenue and turn right. Take Washington Avenue for one block and turn right onto University Avenue. Take an immediate left onto 25th Avenue SE. Turn right onto 4th Street SE. The MAST Laboratory is located on 4th Street between 25th and 27th Avenues SE.

From the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport

Stay in the left lane while leaving the Lindbergh Terminal. Take Highway 5 East to Highway 55 West. Stay on 55 until nearing downtown and follow the signs to "U of M/3rd Street". Stay in the right lane and follow the signs to "East Bank". Follow Washington Avenue across the river and then nine blocks to University Avenue. Turn right onto University Avenue. Take an immediate left onto 25th Avenue SE. Turn right onto 4th Street SE. The MAST Laboratory is located on 4th Street between 25th and 27th Avenues SE.

Parking

Two parking meters and one disability parking space (permit required) are available directly in front of the Laboratory's main entrance.

More parking spaces are available nearby at parking facilities operated by the University of Minnesota. The closest parking facility is the Maroon lot, located at the corner of Oak Street and 6th Street SE, with an entrance off of 6th Street. See the parking map for specific information. The cost is $3.25 per day.

There is also a privately operated lot three blocks east of the MAST Laboratory (at the corner of 29th Ave SE and 4th St SE). The cost is $2.00 per 12 hour period.

Street parking is available in the surrounding area, but is also scarce when University classes are in session. On-street parking spaces are easier to come by during the summer months.

Snow Emergency

A snow emergency is usually declared when a major snow storm hits the city and the road crew starts to work on clearing the snow off the streets. In Minneapolis, the Snow Emergency Parking Rules must be strictly followed. Otherwise, vehicles parked on the wrong side of the streets will be towed.

Public Transportation

• Bus:

  Metro Transit operates Route 7 from the Airport to the West Bank of the University of Minnesota. From the West Bank, the Campus Shuttle service may be taken to University Ave. The closest stop is at the Maroon Parking lot.

• Light Rail:

  Take light rail to the Downtown East/Metrodome Station. From the Metrodome, take Metro Transit Bus Route 16 to the East Bank campus.
